This class has been a great learning experience for me. I had two years of experience behind me when I entered this classroom from middle school. I thought that I was done learning, but I was so wrong. I learned more about manual photography as well as learning how to use Photoshop. I learned more about how to take photos that don't look, well, terrible. Here are some not-so-great photos from the beginning of the year. Bad Pictures from the Beginning of the YearI was a little rusty, to say the least. Of course, there are some better photos in there than that. But as the class went on, I learned more and more. If I'm being honest, one of my best photo assignments was my first one- people. Though, my last photo assignment was also very good. I also really like how my assignment for nature came out. Looking back, it is obvious I'm much better at photographing nature and people. That is probably why my nature and people assignments turned out so well. My black and white assignment probably turned out well because I had taken a lot of nature shots for this assignment. Photos that Turned Out WellThose are some of my best photos I took this trimester. Though, I still have favorites that didn't make the cut. Not every photo I took was great, but I still had photos I really enjoyed. I liked that I got to get out more with this class. It gave me opportunities to get out and try new things as well as have fun with my friends. Other FavoritesI do have to say that learning about Photoshop and working with it had to be another favorite of mine. I have always enjoyed photo editing and I have always wanted to work with Photoshop. I'm very glad I got the chance to work with said program because of this class. The Photoshop assignments were a very enjoyable part of this class. My favorite had to be the visual puns assignment or the visual dictionary assignment. My First and Last Photoshop AssignmentThis class was a great experience for me. Photography is a hobby I enjoy thoroughly. Having a class dedicated to working on it everyday was very fun and I loved coming to this class. I hope I can continue to expand my photography knowledge as I get older. This class was a great stepping stone for me.

For this assignment, we were assigned to take a word and define it with visuals to go along with it. I wanted to try to be creative with this assignment and do some good work. I think it turned out well! Dictionary OneDictionary 2Final ProductI really enjoyed this assignment. I liked how we had a lot of creative freedom and we could do more of our own thing with this assignment. I really enjoyed working with this assignment!
For this assignment, we were required to take pictures and make visual puns out of them. I wanted to try to be original, though I don't think I did very well at that. I do believe my puns turned out pretty well, though! Pun 1Pun 2Pun 3Final ProductDuring this assignment, I learned that I really do enjoy using photoshop more than I imagined. I love making these ridiculous edits that are a lot of fun. This was one of my favorite assignments!
For this assignment, we were required to take pictures of any subject we chose from our list. I decided to pick black and white. We had gone up north to do house work for my grandparents' cabin. The weather was quite gloomy and fit the black and white mood. I wanted to try to capture pretty pictures that would look nice in black and white- quite simple and achievable, I believe. Best PhotoDuring this assignment, I learned that trying to visualize if a picture would look good in black and white is quite difficult. I want to believe my pictures turned out pretty well for someone who does not normally work in black and white!
For this assignment, we were directed to take photos of the same area with our model doing different poses, then go into Photoshop and edit the pictures so it looks like there are multiple of them. I had a lot of fun doing this assignment with my friends! I've always wanted to edit something like this as well, so this was very enjoyable to me. Final ProductsDuring this assignment, I learned that this was harder than I expected. Though, I did enjoy doing this. I really enjoyed the editing process! The photos were the difficult part, but I think I did okay with it. This is probably my favorite photoshop assignment we have done!
For this assignment, I decided to photograph food. My goal was to capture food that made people want to eat it or to make them hungry. I went to a family gathering, so I decided food would be a good choice for this week considering there was a lot of food at that event. Best PhotoDuring this assignment, I learned that food is more enjoyable to photograph than I originally thought. Food has made its way up my list of favorite subjects to photograph. I also learned it can be pretty embarrassing to take pictures of things at an event in front of people you just met. I don't recommend it. Though, I did enjoy taking pictures of the delicious food!
For this assignment, we were instructed to take two types of portrait shots and edit them in photoshop to have a frame and sit next to each other. The two types of portrait shots were studio shots and "window light" shots, where we used windows to utilize the natural light. This assignment was enjoyable, considering I got to work with friends and it wasn't very difficult. Photos I UsedMy original portrait shots (top) and my edited portrait shots (bottom). Final ProductI learned more about photoshop and framing, but I also learned about the different types of portrait shots and lighting techniques during this assignment. It was fun to model and have my friends model for me as well. Overall, this was an enjoyable assignment!
I was absent for a long period of time, so here are some of my Photoshop assignments that I missed and made up. Car RetouchHere is the file for this tutorial. Tutorials AssignmentHere is the link to this tutorial. Color-pop AssignmentHere is the link to this tutorial. During this assignment, I learned a lot about photoshop. Before this class, I had barely worked with photoshop. I know more than I ever thought I would be able to learn thanks to these assignments. I especially enjoyed doing the assignment where we could pick our own tutorial. I found the magical forest assignment really enjoyable, even though it was pretty difficult. This was a great learning experience I enjoyed!
For this assignment, I decided to take pictures of nature. I live out in a rural area, so this was fairly easy for me. Nature is one of my favorite things to photograph. I wanted to attempt to capture some artistic shots of my backyard, which I hope I accomplished. Best PhotoI learned that I really enjoy using depth of field during this assignment. My favorite shots have some element of depth of field in them. It was fairly cold outside, but I did have fun with this assignment! This just confirmed that nature truly is one of my favorite subjects to photograph. If I could, I'd take more nature photographs.
For this assignment, I decided to photograph animals. These are my dogs and my grandparents' dog- Stella, Shaggy, and Tulip. I wanted to try to capture them playing around and just being the adorable dogs that they are! Best PhotoI had a lot of fun playing around with the dogs during this assignment. I learned I enjoy taking photos of people more than animals, considering animals are harder to work with. Stella was the easiest to work with, considering she's my dog and she listens well to me. Shaggy just wanted to play fetch, while Tulip is a little uncooperative. I loved spending time with the dogs and taking photos of them, though. I think this assignment went well!
